We believe in design that inspires, solves challenges, and transforms spaces elegantly

At Glassiera, we believe that lighting is more than just illumination—it’s an art form that reflects personality and adds a touch of elegance and warmth to any space. For over 30 years, we have been crafting handmade glass lighting and décor, committed to the highest standards of quality and meticulous attention to detail.

Who we are?

From a Family’s Dream to a Legacy of Glass Art!

As children, my seven siblings and I spent countless hours by our father’s side in his modest Cairo workshop, eyes wide as we watched him shape handblown glass. The way he gently blew into the pipe and coaxed the glowing blob into delicate forms felt like witnessing magic. Our father’s hands, weathered yet steady, guided the molten glass as it bloomed into vases, lamps, and ornaments before our very eyes. Those early days imprinted on us a deep love for the craft. We didn’t just learn glassblowing as a skill, we inherited it as a passion passed down through generations, a bond tying our family together in creativity and artistry.

Our father’s workshop was tiny and humble, but to us it was a playground of light and color. We remember the warmth of the furnace on our faces and the sparkle of freshly blown glass catching the afternoon sun. He would tell stories while working, how his own father taught him, how each piece carries a part of its maker. In those moments, we understood that every curve and swirl of glass was more than art, it was family history made tangible. By the time we were teenagers, each of us had tried our hand at blowing glass under Dad’s proud gaze. Eight young apprentices at the flame, we found not just a craft we could do, but a calling we loved.

Humble Beginnings and a Bold Vision

In the 1990s, as we grew older, we took our father’s teachings and started selling our glass pieces in small local shops. We were just a band of siblings with big dreams, packing our hand-crafted vases and lamp shades into the back of a van, setting up a stall, and hoping to see smiles on customers’ faces. Those early years were full of long days and hard lessons. We faced a market flooded with impersonal, low-quality merchandise that left customers disappointed. People had to choose between overpriced imported décor and cheaply made alternatives that never lasted.

It was frustrating to see beautiful design and good quality so out of reach for many. We felt the same disappointment as customers did, the lack of trust and genuine quality in available glass décor. Rather than give up, that frustration lit a new fire in us. We realized ordinary was never enough, not for us and not for the people we served.

We pooled our savings and bold ideas and officially founded Glassiera with a simple mission: to bridge the gap between affordable prices, high quality, and a delightful customer experience. No one should have to compromise on any of those, we believed. Our early workshop was essentially a renovated garage, but it was ours, and it was here that our bold vision took root. We worked late into the nights blowing glass, experimenting with designs, and carefully crafting pieces that we ourselves would be proud to own. Each sibling brought their own flair, one had an eye for elegant vases, another engineered sturdy yet graceful chandeliers, a third perfected whimsical ornaments. What united us was our commitment to quality and integrity in everything we made.

From Workshop to Factory: Growing with Family Values

Word spread as customers discovered the authenticity of Glassiera. What started in a garage workshop grew steadily, from local craft fairs, to a tiny store downtown, and eventually beyond. After years of dedication, we did something none of us had imagined on those early van trips: we opened our own factory in Sixth of October City, Giza, just outside Cairo, to meet the growing demand. Walking through the doors of our very own glassblowing factory for the first time felt surreal. We had started as eight siblings with a dream, and now we were leading a team of artisans.

Today, more than 200 craftsmen and staff work with us, each one treated like part of the family. The same values our father instilled in us at the workbench, patience, excellence, and love for the craft, now guide a whole community of creators under the Glassiera roof. Despite the growth, we haven’t changed what matters. Every morning, the furnaces are lit and our team gathers like a big family in the workshop. You’ll still find at least a few of us original siblings on the floor each day, blowing glass alongside our artisans or inspecting each piece for that unmistakable Glassiera quality.

We’ve been in this craft for over 30 years, yet each day in the studio still feels like a new beginning. We often remind each other of our early motto: normal was never good enough. It’s a mantra that pushed us from a tiny shop to where we are now, and it echoes in every design decision and every item we create. We refuse to settle for the ordinary because we know the extraordinary can happen when heart and skill unite.

Crafting Quality in Every Piece

What makes a Glassiera piece special isn’t just its design, but how it’s brought to life. We insist on using only the finest Pyrex glass (a type of borosilicate renowned for its durability and clarity) for our creations. Every product is made by hand, formed carefully by mouth-blowing the glass, just as our father taught us. If you peek into our workshop, you might see one of us at the furnace, gently turning a glowing orb at the end of a blowpipe, coaxing it into shape with practiced ease. It’s mesmerizing work that requires patience and precision.

We’ve also blended tradition with a bit of science: once shaped, each piece is heated to about 500°C to fuse the vibrant colors into the glass permanently. This step ensures that the colors stay rich and radiant for a lifetime, and that the glass itself is tempered for strength. The result? Heirloom-quality décor that is as sturdy as it is beautiful, pieces meant to be cherished for years, or even generations.

Because each vase, lamp, or ornament is crafted by human hands, no two are exactly alike. We love that. The subtle variations in shape or swirl of color are the hallmark of true handcraftsmanship, a little reminder that a real person devoted care and love to making this object just for you. Before any item leaves our factory, it’s inspected thoroughly, often by one of us siblings personally, to make sure it meets our standards. If it doesn’t make us say “wow,” it doesn’t leave the workshop. We take pride in knowing that when a Glassiera piece finds its way to your home, it carries our family’s dedication to quality and the soul of handcraft in every curve.

Where Customers Become Family

One of the most beautiful parts of our journey has been the people we’ve met along the way. We’ve always said that our customer is the hero of our story, and we truly mean it. Each time someone chooses one of our creations to be part of their home or to give as a heartfelt gift, we feel honored.

One story in particular still gives me goosebumps: A few years ago, a customer named Sarah from London reached out to us after receiving one of our hand-blown Glassiera lamps. She told us that when she first lit the lamp in her living room, the soft amber glow and intricate patterns of colored glass brought tears to her eyes. The piece reminded her of a similar lamp that had lit her grandmother’s house when she was a child. In her message, Sarah said our lamp made her home feel truly like home, filled with warmth, memories, and comfort. “It’s as if I have a piece of my family’s spirit here with me,” she wrote.

We were incredibly moved reading this, realizing that something we crafted with our own hands could resonate so deeply in a stranger’s life. Stories like Sarah’s are why we do what we do. They remind us that we’re not just making objects; we’re helping create moments and connections. When a customer writes to say their Glassiera vase was the highlight of their wedding décor, or that a set of our hand-crafted glasses was the perfect housewarming gift for their son’s first home, we feel like we’ve been invited into those personal milestones.

Our customers become part of the Glassiera family – their joys and sorrows, memories and hopes, all intermingle with our craft. We succeed when you, the customer, feel a genuine bond with what we’ve made, as if it was designed especially to enrich your story. In that sense, every customer’s life that we touch with our glass art adds a new chapter to the Glassiera journey.

Our Journey Continues (With You)

Today, Glassiera is more than just a shop or a brand, it’s a living story of family, passion, and connection. We’re proud that our handcrafted pieces have found homes all around the world, bridging cultures and bringing a touch of Egyptian glass artistry into living rooms, kitchens, and gardens everywhere.

Yet, in essence, we are still that same family of craftsmen, waking up excited to create something beautiful each day. Every morning in the workshop is a fresh start, an opportunity to innovate, to perfect our art, and to reaffirm why we began this journey in the first place: to prove that heartfelt craftsmanship and honest quality can make people happy.

We invite you to be part of our story. Whether you’re choosing a Glassiera piece for yourself or as a gift for someone dear, know that it was made with love by a family who truly cares about your happiness. When you light one of our lamps or fill one of our vases with flowers, we hope you feel the warmth and human touch that went into it. Thank you for considering Glassiera and for letting our family’s craft become a part of your life.

Here’s to beauty, authenticity, and the wonderful connections that bloom when passionate hands create for caring hearts.
